King Crab Safari by RIB (Summer)

Take a thrilling RIB cruise through the fjord and experience the art of King Crab fishing firsthand.

Departures at 09:30, 13:00 and 17:00 (for groups)

Our fisherman-guide will pick you up at your hotel in Kirkenes, if requested. You will be driven to the king crab pier, where your guide provides warm clothing and a safety briefing before boarding the RIB (boat). The tour starts with a visit to local fishing boats, where you learn about king crab and traditional fishing in the region. We then cruise to WW2 battle stations in the fjord, where the guide shares fascinating wartime stories.
Next, you help pull up the crab pots and bring the catch to our rustic boathouse restaurant on the opposite side of the fjord. After some photos, the crabs are prepared while you enjoy coffee or tea. The crab legs are served Northern Norwegian style with bread, butter, mayonnaise, and lemon, and you are shown how to open them properly. Additional drinks are available for purchase. After your King Crab meal, transportation will be provided to return you to your hotel.

Note: The safari departs from the King Crab pier in Kirkenes from May to mid-September. During other periods, the starting point for the safari will be at the Snow Resort.
