Midnight Sun Kayaking at Sommarøy

Join us for a guided sea kayaking tour at Sommarøy, a beautiful island just one hour drive from Tromsø. 

From late May to late July, the sun never sets North of the Arctic circle, giving us 24 hours of daylight which is perfect for a peaceful paddle in glowing evening light. After a short safety briefing and introduction to kayaking at the activity centre, we head out onto the waters. The guide will choose the best location for the weather conditions. As we paddle silently through the clear waters, you may see seals, sea eagles, otters, and even  small porpoise whales that some times show up around the kayaks due to their curious nature. We move gently through nature, surrounded by white beaches,  and tall mountains and your local guide will share stories about Sommarøy’s fishing history and everyday life as well as share knowledge about the local wildlife. Half-way the tour, we'll  go ashore on one of the secluded beaches for a nice break.

If you're interested in improving your paddling skills, just ask! We use stable double kayaks, but experienced paddlers can request a single (to be decided on spot).
