A taste of coastal traditions with Hermes II
Step aboard Hermes II, a beautifully restored wooden boat built in 1917. Our crew will welcome you warmly and help you get comfortable before we leave the harbour in Tromsø.
As we begin our journey, we sail into peaceful fjords and between small islands surrounding the city. You can relax on deck, enjoy the fresh Arctic air, and take in the spectacular scenery. Inside, you will find warm lounges, cozy blankets, and thermal suits available if you need them. We also provide personal safety equipment and there are two guest toilets on board.
While we travel, the crew will share the story of Hermes II and its life along the northern Norwegian coast. You will also learn about the German warship Tirpitz, which was sunk near Tromsø during World War II, and hear interesting facts about the local nature and culture.
Keep your eyes open as this area is rich in wildlife. It is common to spot seabirds, eagles, and seals, and with a bit of luck, dolphins may appear. During the trip, we stop for a short break so you can try fishing with one of our rods. It is a fun activity for beginners and experienced fishers alike.
To give you a taste of Northern Norway, we serve small samples of traditional local food on board. The selection varies with the season, but it usually includes delicious seafood specialties. Hot drinks such as coffee, tea, and toddy are included, and you can buy snacks, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages if you wish.
