The Northern Lights Train
With a rich history and breathtaking nature, Narvik has something to offer all year round.
During winter, many bright clear skies offer the chance to spot strong and bright Northern Lights occurrences, and The Northern Lights Train will take you far up in the mountains to witness it. This journey offers an amazing experience far away from the bright city lights where you can catch the Green Lady dancing in the sky.
The first stop on this journey is Bjørnfjell, the border station to Sweden. After a short stay at Bjørnfjell, we travel to Katterat station. Here we will continue our chase 374 metres above sea level while we explore the area and listen to Northern Lights stories. At Katterat station, we will make a campfire and serve pastries while enjoying warm beverages and looking at a once-in-a-lifetime view.
The Arctic Train
Take a ride on the Arctic Train and enjoy wild and dramatic landscapes on a 43-kilometre ride along the Ofoten Railway. Visit the museums and learn all about the city’s WW2 history. Explore the surrounding mountains – go hiking during summer or tackle the hills on skis during winter.
From the end of May to the end of July the midnight sun provides endless bright nights allowing you to explore the Arctic sceneries all night long.
